Angie’s Approach to Chanting
Who chants?
Yoga teachers who wish to explore chanting at a deeper level; persons seeking another way to meditate, those who are curious about sound and healing: anyone can find release and joy in early morning chanting classes.
No prior chanting or singing experience is required and all levels of ability are equally acceptable. You don’t have to read music or have “a good voice.” The emphasis is on making sound to open and clear the chakras rather than learning music.
And as a bonus, you will learn techniques to expand your vocal range, increase vocal confidence, and energize you for the day!
Why chant?
To sing is to heal the world while healing yourself. Sacred sound dances the cells in our bodies and bubbles into the community and the world, spreading joy and unity.
Angie’s chanting classes offer training in ancient practices of “sound medicine” with an emphasis on Shakti Yoga. Shakti yoga is a Tantric practice which focuses on the physical aspects of chanting, a little different than kirtan, which is a Vedic devotional practice.
This one-hour class combines the research of Layne Redmond, Russill Paul and Chloe Goodchild, and is experiential and meditative.
Come chant!
