Siva Joos:       enjoy

 Traditionally Sivananda Yoga is taught as a very meditative practice, with an emphasis on exploring postures (asanas) within the body, and on working with every individual’s safe and comfortable yogic edge.

Performed slowly and consciously in the Sivananda style, the experience of asana goes far beyond mere physical benefits, and soon becomes a mental practice in meditation, concentration and emotional balance.

Jiva Joos:     Jivamukti Yoga challenges you to embrace your limitless potential in this life. Jivamukti Yoga will transform the strength and flexibility of not just your body, but you heart and mind. What you do with that strength and flexibility is up to you.

Basics: If you’re a beginner struggling with downward dog or a more advanced student perfecting your shoulder stand, give the Basics course a try. Focus on the fundamentals. Each week of the month features a concentration: standing poses, forward bends, back bends, and finally, combinations and inversons. The classes are popular and fill up quickly, so reservations are encouraged!

Open:  Each class includes a challenging and constantly changing physical practice with music, chanting, and meditation. We focus on the original meaning of asana as “seat”: our relationship to the earth and all beings. This is as practical as it is radical.

Multi-level:  ok folks…we’re gonna flow…and do it all – chant, meditate, explore the yogic texts and practice Being human!  But we’re gonna slow it down and explore the details when we need to..and enjoy some great tunes while we do so!

Jai Mama Joos:  

Baby on the inside [prenatal]:  What will most likely be one of the most physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually challenging events of your life is coming soon to a birthing room near you ! 

Connect to breath, babe & other divine mamas in a relaxed and empowering atmosphere in preparation for labor and birth. Best for 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

Baby on the outside  [postnatal pre-crawling babes]:  Whew…the big beautiful birth event is over…now what?!!

Reduce stress, feel more connected and experience the joy of motherhood! In a relaxed atmosphere, deepen your bond with your baby while reconnecting to your body after giving birth, whether it’s been 6 weeks or 6 months. Nourish yourself being with other moms and babies while rejoicing in the beauty of sharing yoga with your little ones. This time and space will be facilitated by a dedicated yogini and experienced Mom, who will hold space for magic to happen.

 

Jungle Joos: Jump, sweat, empower, & energize through this “fitness meets yoga” workout that will push you to your edge.  A fun, yet challenging class that includes cardio, strength, core, balance, flexibility, & endurance.

 

Wild Joos:   Wild & Joos-y Sunday Nite Yoga:

 enjoy flow

Athletic beginners and experienced yogis alike will improve their strength, stamina, flexibility and focus with this dynamic Vinyasa based yoga class. Add a little spice to your Sunday nights as you work toward a different intermediate or advanced pose every two weeks!  Lots of guidance…lots of WILD FUN!

 

Stable Joos:             

Take this drink of Yoga for Equestrians out of the studio to the stable the next time you go to ride!  The postures, breathing practices & philosophies of yoga will enhance your balance, posture & poise while deepening your connection to your horse. Evolve your ride!  Horse whisperer…here you come!

 

 

Noon Joos:                take a sip mid-day to refresh & revitalize… Y U M!

 All classes will serve multi-level practitioners, however…we’ll cater our offerings as follows:

Monday & Wednesday -  enjoying yoga…you’ve got some basics under your belt and a thirst for “more” every once in a while.

Tuesday & Thursday – FUNdamentals…catering to those just starting out on this joos-y path of yoga.  We’ll keep it slow, steady and FUN.

Friday – sorry ladies…this one’s for our guys!  What y’all do during this time period…we’ll never know!  Enjoy!

 

Sunrise Joos:           enjoy flow

 wake up the yogic way!  Surya Namaskar…Salutations to the sun! Linking breath & body in what becomes a moving meditative practice to start your day off right. 

 Multi level flow instruction will accommodate all practitioners.  If you’re adventurous enough to get up this early…we’ll welcome you with open arms!

Happy Hour Joos:    enjoy flow

Meet you after work on Friday for a quick joos-y sip to drop the stress of the week and slip into a more comfortable you for the weekend.  Short & sweet…better than the bar!

 

the fine print

Earlybird: Payment must be dated and received by Wednesday September 8, 2010  

Modes of Payment: We accept cash and cheques payable to ‘Yoga Downtown’.  We do not accept credit cards. 

Missed Classes: Missed classes may be made up by attending any other class offered at Yoga Downtown within the same 8-week series (until December 20) of any length and at any time, space providing. 

Cancellations/Refunds: No fees will be refunded after the 1st class of the series.  If you must withdraw prior to the first class of the session, fees will be refunded minus a $16 administration fee.  If you must withdraw after the first class of the session for medical reasons, you will receive credit, valid for six calendar months, for any classes remaining after the date you notify our office. This credit is transferable.
